Work as a team with the other medical assistants and help (as requested) with the daily clinic flow. Send correspondence, lab letters, etc to patients, physicians or staff as needed Monitor Tasks for all new diagnostic and lab results daily and give to supervising physician for review. Register patients for the Patient Portal and assist physician and patients with sending and receiving secure messages. Save the preliminary note as Draft and then obtain the supervising physician’s review and approval of all clinical information entered into the Electronic Health Record. Assist physician with documentation during each patient’s visit by entering information such as the Chief Complaint, History of Present Illness, Review of Systems, Physical Exam, Diagnosis, Orders and Charges, Assessment and Plan. Obtain information from the patient to assist with clinical documentation. Obtain information from the patient to assist with Meaningful Use Operational and Clinical Quality Measures. Ensure copies of reports, diagnostic test results, etc… are available in the EHR and pulled into the note as needed. Prep the patient’s electronic chart to ensure that all appropriate documentation is present. Shadow the physician in the clinic to assist with documentation. The person in this position must do his/her job duties while remembering Customer Service, safety and professionalism are key components of every position within SIMED. The person in this position is also responsible for assisting the physician with documentation by ensuring clinical information is entered into the Electronic Health Record before, during and after the patient visit. The Medical Assistant / Scribe staff member is responsible for the management and flow of the clinical day.
